Fundamental mechanisms in cell biology

Research projects focusing on basic aspects of cell biology are approached by different groups at the IBCN in different model systems, from eukaryotic unicellular organisms to mammals, both in vitro and in vivo.

These studies aim at highlighting the molecular mechanisms controlling different fundamental cellular processes, such as differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis, by the identification and characterization of different signaling pathways.

Mechanisms of regulation of gene expression at transcriptional and post-trascriptional levels are investigated by several groups focusing on the role of transcription factors, RNA splicing, non-coding RNAs and RNA-protein and protein-protein interactions.
